Anchor Activities
What are Anchor Activities?
Anchor Activities are activities to further you understanding of a topic or subject during your own time and effort. These activities were borrowed from Mr. Roughton and edited by myself and Mr. Shields. Point values for the assignments range from 5, 10, 20, & 40. Typically, two unit projects using various Anchor Activities are done in a trimester. Refer to the provided link for the Anchor Activities. If there is a question about an activity or you would like to make one up yourself, come see me.

Why do we do Anchor Activities?
With the use of Internet and a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Pilot Program, myself and Mr. Shields organized a portfolio of PBL Activities to be used in any history classroom. We worked to examine historical themes and find ways to put them into various projects and activities. These projects and activities would be utilized by students through the creation of charts, writings, drawings, crafts, presentations, and many other forms, both technical and traditional. These projects and activities will be differentiated based on student interest and learning styles. The projects allow our classrooms to connect our students to a 21st Century Classroom and to rigorous educational practices that will drive student achievement.
